This paper provides some insights on the first step in the information-seeking process (gathering information) by students with a print disability and the barriers encountered. There is a lack of research on the intersection of databases design and its impacts on the information literacy skills of students with print disabilities. Originality/value – Participants consisted of students with learning, visual and mobility disabilities and who were native users of screen-reading software. Libraries can assist students by providing database instruction tailored to users of screen readers and by assisting database vendors in usability feedback and in marketing options. It is in the best interest of vendors to assist libraries in promoting the accessible features that already exist in their databases. Practical implications – Database vendors are aware of the barriers their databases pose for users of screen readers.

Research limitations/implications – The study focuses only on a small sample of university students with print disabilities and therefore lacks a control group of non-print-disabled students against which the results could be measured. Findings – The paper provides insights on the information-seeking behavior of students with print disabilities as well as the barriers encountered while navigating online databases using screen-reading software. Survey data were collected pre- and post-study as well as after each database search session. Screen-recording software provided video and audio documentation of the process. Design/methodology/approach – Participants completed a series of tasks in three different online databases using their screen-reading software. So it's more one of you seated together really early, Yeah.Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present findings of a study which examined the searching experience of university students with a print disability and their use of screen reading software to navigate three proprietary databases. There's a super nice of you, but I want to show you this like Booth seating place where there's like a TV and a table on DH there usually always taken up because they're, like, very private, and it's like a really good place to study. Um, their books here, I've literally never seen a single person like, look for these books, so So I feel like it's more of the Chilean people excited stuff.

I honestly, if you're here for a movie, I'm going to cry because, like, sometimes they really need a room and I see people watching, like Shrek. This was like a really big screen, and you couldn't control on your own. For though that I want to show you that there are these classrooms settings, uh, where you could just rent a room for yourself to study or like classes are sometimes hold in here, too. Like more private eyes, study areas like by the wall. There's, like, a lot of seats and stuff where you can just, like, chill on this. So after six floor, I really like this where I feel like it's really common chill and you won't get killed that for her talking too loud or whatever. Just be where, like, it tells you what you get in just like, don't step into throwing elevator. The down elevators will take you down from third. If you can see, um, that just means like, they only go in one direction on DH on ly, the elevators can take you out from the third to the seven. Elevators are really weird, some of them say upper down. So we're gonna go to the sixth floor because you could, like, talk there and you won't get yelled at Arsenal, quiet floors and some silent forces libraries where they where also, these air stairs were not taking stairs because I'm super early disease or we're going to go take the elevator. Shelving opens and you're free to walk in and you're automatically on the third floor on DH. Once again, it's just tap your card and return.

I want you out of these out escalators right in front of the library, and it's very convenient because it is really right there. Oh, God, that was a really, really bad angle of the story. We're all going to the library together to work because we are swarming with Burke two. It's really important Super long doctor, which is why I show also this is an e mail back. Honestly, this slick of very, very conveniently library. So this is the East building where the hunter College library is held. The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
